How to make Glitter Playdough

Our kids love playdough and we love a quick and easy playdough recipe! Here's one we stumbled across that works a treat!

Sparkly Glitter Playdough

  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 Tablespoon of Cream of Tartar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 teaspoon food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon of oil
  • 1 Tablespoon of glitter

How to make playdough

  1. Combine all of the above ingredients except the glitter.
  2. Cook over medium heat in saucepan for approximately 3 to 5 minutes - make sure you stir constantly.
  3. When a ball forms in the middle of the saucepan, turn the ball out onto wax or baking paper.
  4. When cool enough to touch, add the food colouring and knead with your hands until smooth.  Add the glitter and knead again.
  5. When it cools, store in a re-sealable plastic bag or container.

And for a 'No Cook' playdough recipe the kids can help with see below;

  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 tbs oil
  • 1/2 to 1 cup cold water (start with 1/2)
  • 2 drops liquid food colouring

How to make 'no cook' playdough

  1. Combine the plain flour and salt
  2. Add water, food colouring and oil. Mix until ingredients are combined.
  3. Knead well.
  4. If the consistency is too wet add extra plain flour.

TIP:  Divide the playdough into portions before adding the food colouring so you can make multi-colours!

The kids will love it!
