ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
Let us enter the magical world of the theatre; a place where we can change ourselves.
Can you be invisible? Or walk stealthily in the night?
Inside the theatre you are free to let your dreams take flight!
I can be a spider and you can be a rocket!
The theatre can be our bedroom, or a damp dark forest,
We will walk outside in blindfolds to hear the music of the land,
And gather sticks and drums and junk to make a raucous band!
We’ll stomp our feet and chant and sing, to see if the sky will pour, as animals, creatures and warriors we will let our imaginations roar!
Actress Janie Gibson will lead participants in games of imagination and play, focusing on music and the art of transformation.
During the term the group will play games that awaken the imagination and the senses, (sound, sight, touch, smell, taste) and invent games of make-believe and transformation, turning themselves into characters, animals and magical creatures.
Learning how to work as an ensemble, the group will focus on music and rhythm, making a raucous band, learning a Slavic rain chant and playing percussion with hands, feet and makeshift instruments.
This workshop will culminate in a public performance of It’s Raining In The Theatre! at PACT on Saturday 31 March.
