In a stunning revovated warehouse building located just off King Street, Berkelouw Newtown has a fabulous selection interesting, independent and diverse books, organic fair trade coffee, fresh pastries, and rustic breads baked daily onsite. They have recently opened a new 'Story Corner Cafe' with weekly story time, a play area and toys for the little ones.

Under the shade of the building's front awnings, the busy Berkelouw Cafe serves fantastic coffee and is one of Norton Street's most popular meeting places. Inside the bookstore, the downstairs area features an extensive selection of both new and rare books and an outstanding range of cards, wrap and stationery items. The second floor boasts thousands of second hand books, secondhand CDs and the cosy couches of the Booklounge Cafe. Philosophy and poetry nights are regularly held in the cafe, and special events featuring prominent thinkers and writers occur monthly.
